WHY?
It seems like things in life never seem to go in a straight line and we may ask “Why?”. Things are delayed, complications occur, and there are many sleepless nights. All our worry, stress, and irritations may make us feel miserable in the moment, but it doesn’t change the fact that God is in all of this, will lead us through it, and will deliver us in His timing. Whether it’s business deals or cancer treatments, this reality does not change. God will hold you in the palm of His hand…. Just like this groove in the rock we saw on a recent hike holds this water. God holds you!

REST and RETREAT
Recently my husband and I had the opportunity to go on a retreat in California. “What is a retreat?” some may ask. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as “A place of privacy or safety – refuge” and “A period of group withdrawal for prayer, meditation, study, or instruction under a director”. Like so many people, we have a lot going on in our lives, so this retreat was a much-needed time away that included taking walks around the retreat center, listening to a fabulous speaker, wine tasting, and making friends with others who attended…. And going for a ride on the swings that hang from the huge oak tree on the grounds. Who would have thought that a ride on a swing as an adult could be so therapeutic? It felt good to pump our legs to swing up high while filling our lungs with the cool evening air. Time away from the assaults of daily life and time away from cell phones, TV, computers, etc. does a lot to reset the mind and rejuvenate one for facing every-day life again. Sure, it may cost some money to go to a retreat, but it is money worth spending as you invest in yourself and your wellbeing. A couple days later as we are into the “real world” once again, our minds are back to spinning in circles and our calendars continue to fill up with meetings, appointments, and activities, and we feel the stress creeping back in. The memories that were made and the time spent “retreating” were so worth it and will carry us through to our next retreat. If you would like to go on a retreat but need ideas on where to go for one, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
