MILESTONES

In a cancer journey, there are many milestones that are reached: the patient is done with surgery… the patient completes radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or whatever other treatment they are given. Then come the checkups: quarterly, six-month, yearly, etc. Just like with cancer, Be Still and Know Inc. hits milestones. When we started, we wondered if we would hit 500 bags, then we did 1000 bags, then 1500, and now we’re over 2000!

One of the times I needed to reorder the travel-size lavender linen spray last year, I emailed the wonderful owner of the company to place another order. She commented, “I remember your first order, and that you were a little nervous on how many to get. Look at you now. You certainly had an inspired idea, and I love how many people you are blessing!”

We don’t know how many milestones God has in mind for us, but we celebrate every single one! Thank you for your continuing support to hit these milestones. Without that support, we wouldn’t be able to continue giving hope to those going through cancer.

UPDATE FOR DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS

We recently sent 40 encouragement bags to a new distribution channel: Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care. Last year they assisted over 300 cancer patients in 20 out of 23 counties in Wyoming. This assistance includes such things as helping pay bills, bringing meals to cancer patients, and providing rides to appointments and treatments. In the first quarter of this year, requests for assistance to WFCC were up 177% over last year. WFCC has volunteers (or angels in their words) who are now handing out our encouragement bags across Wyoming. Given the number of requests they receive, this could go “big” for us and we would love for you to come onboard with us to provide those bags. If you are required to make a distribution from your retirement account, did you know that you can use it to make a tax-free contribution to a qualified charity? Prayerfully consider if your unused retirement distribution might be used to make a tax-free donation to Be Still and Know Inc., and help offer encouragement to families impacted by cancer.

“[My friend] called last night. She loooooved the gift bag!! Thank you so very much for your heart in this project. It is truly an outreach!”

GOD’S PERFECT TIMING

Every once in a while I struggle with whether or not Be Still and Know Inc. is something I should continue with. Last week was one of those weeks. While in the midst of this wondering, I had to drop off encouragement bags for cancer centers in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. I like to try to do drop-offs anonymously, but with this particular center, I have to walk through the front door and into the waiting room. As I was leaving, a woman and her husband were leaving after she received her cancer treatment. She asked me if I’m the one who provides the gifts for those who undergo their first chemotherapy treatment. I sort of hemmed and hawed and I wasn’t sure she was referring to our bags. She said, “You know… the one with the Jason lotion in it.” I admitted that is me. The two of them thanked me profusely for the gift and raved about what great lotion that is. We had a wonderful conversation for a few minutes and we gave each other hugs with the promise to pray for each other. Then they gave me encouragement by saying, “Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s making a difference!” Thank you, Lord, for this timely encouragement and please be with Kelly and Mike (names changed) as they walk this cancer journey.
